PAUL CARROL BINKLEY

Paul Carrol Binkley created Heartdance Music to be a home for his passion; original, honest, inspiring music. Fueled by the belief that despite trends in popular culture and commercial viability, pure music has a life all its own and will always have a legitimate audience. To this end, Paul has spent the last 20 years composing, performing, recording, producing and struggling to build a business.

In 1986 he signed his first record deal with Benson Records and recorded a beautiful and highly regarded solo album called "Silent Serenade". This recording included pieces originally considered for Windham Hill's first "Guitar Sampler" which simply took too long to come together. Years later, Lloyd Barde, founder of Backroads Distributors, would print in his catalog, "If Windham Hill had maintained their acoustic profile and continued into the 90's with their earlier guitar centered approach, Paul Carrol Binkley might well have been carrying the banner." In 1988, after completely selling out of the first pressing of "Silent Serenade", a nameless A&R director at Benson would tell Paul "Let's face it, instrumental music is dead. There's just no market for it."

And the rest, as they say, is history!

Paul has since, recorded the four CDs you see here and has gained national recognition on programs such as "Music from the Hearts of Space" and NPR's "All Things Considered". After a performance on CMT's "Prime Time Country", he sold 300 CDs in 3 1/2 minutes on a single phone line with voice mail. With the help of friend and radio promoter Michael Moryc, "Flying Colors" received regular airplay on over 120 Jazz and NAC stations across the U.S. garnering impressive reviews such as ; "Wonderful stuff, full of warmth and beauty." KBSU Boise, Idaho, "Very upbeat album. Helps to brighten a dark day!" WICN Worcester Massachusetts, and "Much needed for the NAC format!" Alan A. Granstrom - Target Radio Satellite Networks.

Paul continues to record new music and to develop Heartdance Music along with business partner and Studio Director Eddie Bedford.

If the grim realities of fiscal responsibilities have created obstacles over the years, they have also created interesting opportunities for Paul. He has recorded and performed with some of the most successful musicians in the business. He is currently touring with RIAA's Country Band of the Century, Alabama. (See Upcoming Performances) He has also created somewhat of a second career in Theatre and Television, creating award winning music and sound design for a number of accomplished companies. Paul has several new projects in the works which will be available soon and are sure to become welcome additions to any library.

"Paul Carrol Binkley's original music is almost subliminal, a nostalgic weave of old lace curtains, the faint scent of wood smoke, faded potpourri and remembered innocence." The Tennessean
